If you’ve spent any time in the library since its recent renovation, you may have noticed that the building is ever so slightly more caffeinated. For this you can thank Parkhurst Dining Services and their new and improved barista station, which has set up shop on the library’s first floor.

Jamie Ballew, head of Parhusrt at Saint Vincent and Michael Hustava, senior director of Marketing and Communications, provided written commentary on the overhauled barista.

Ballew noted that the barista now offers a complete line of frozen drinks, called Frozaccinos, that were not offered in the past.

“Additionally, we are [also] offering a new selection of Smith Full Leaf hot teas, freshly brewed iced tea, and the syrups we offer are 1883 brand,” he wrote.

“I imagine it’s so motivating to be able to grab a little pick-me-up while studying. One thing I’ve learned is that coffee in moderation does help you focus!” - Jazmine Kennedy

Though he observed that the Frozaccino was the most popular new item at the barista, Ballew stated that he prefers the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate as his own personal drink of choice.

Regarding whether Pankhurst changed their base blends of coffee, Ballew and Hustava wrote that Pankhurst is now offering “several different roasts of coffee, and will be rotating them on a regular basis.”

Ballew wrote that the now-unoccupied space in the Carey Center where the previous barista station was set up will continue to be vacant tor the immediate future. However, he added that Parkhurst “[hasn’t] ruled out something in the future.”

Jazmine Kennedy, Parkhurst employee, says that shefinds the change to be a perfect fit.

“I imagine it’s so motivating to be able to grab a little pick-me-up while studying,” she said. “One thing I’ve learned is that coffee in moderation does help you focus!”

Kennedy stated that, in terms of her favorite drinks, she prefers the Peach Smoothie.

“It’s imbued with energy, so I always feel nice and refreshed after one sip,” she said. “Plus, it makes me feel like I’m getting my required serving of fruit!”

The barista station hours are Monday through Friday from 8 to 2 p.m.
